About the Podcast
My name is Alex Wilson, & I am a clinical social worker specialising in mental health & young people. My aim in creating this podcast is to create a space for young people to share lived experiences in the mental health system.
The reality of seeking help for many young people is that it is a difficult & often traumatic experience. Stigma surrounding mental illness is present within health & mental health services, & serves as a major barrier to young people seeking help.
Cuckoo aims to cut through the gloss & the token reporting on youth mental health. These are true stories reflecting the state of our mental health system. It's only once we acknowledge the truth that we can work to change it.
